Sunday, September 3rd
Hi All,
Sorry about the lack of posting yesterday. . . things were pretty busy over here. Maria's big news is that she moved out of ICU yesterday - late yesterday afternoon we wheeled her and all of her things down the hall and around the corner into a room with a private bathroom, a big window, and a big windowsill for all of the flowers, balloons, and cards that people have sent that we were finally able to deliver to her. Other "pros" about the room include that it is much bigger, she can have as many visitors as she likes at one time (in ICU they limited it to 2), we can come and go as we please (in ICU we had to call first), and she can have visitors 24/7 (in ICU we had to leave from 7-8:30 am and pm each day while the nurses changed shifts). The "con" is that her nurses have 5-7 patients at once, whereas in ICU they only had 2 - Maria and one other - so they were very attentive (thus the title of intensive care). But it is so nice to be out of the ICU - after Dave and Albee left yesterday, Barb, Char, Katherine and I all had dinner with Maria in her room - a first!
She had a really good night last night - didn't even need the morphine every two hours like she has the past few nights. She has had a lot of activities both yesterday and today - long walks down the hallway with her walker, with Katherine the rower acting as coxswain, cruises around the hospital in her wheelchair, working with the physical therapist, etc. This afternoon she even talked to Albee on the phone! Her head and neck hurt her alot when she is sitting or standing, but she is very determined to push through the pain and be back on her feet (literally) ASAP. When I asked her why she was walking so fast during our walk this afternoon, she told me "because I am so mad." But at the rate she's going, she is right on track to move to Seattle next week. . . so get ready!
She continues to enjoy having all of your comments read to her - she has mentioned a number of times that she would like to be able to see the blog. . . but alas, no wireless internet in the hospital, so that will have to wait until Seattle. Thanks again, everyone, for all of your support! Maria is looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Yayyy! So glad to hear you are up and walking around more! I also heard you are off to Seattle soon! Way to go Ree, you are surpassing everyone's expectations and if that's because you are 'so mad' then thats great! Whatever it takes, you are so strong I know you can do anything. I am thinking of you over here; Everyday when I go to the gym I listen to My Maria by Brooks and Dunn to kick off my run. Love ya baby!!
I'm glad to hear you're getting better. You're in my prayers, Maria!
Just would like to share a little ritual I have been taking part in...A few days ago Ab-roller Nelson mentioned that she listened to "i Wanna Dance With Somebody" and danced around in her room by herself, well I, coincidentally, had done the same thing, and thought to myself "What a Wonderful Tribute to our Reesa" because really she is the only person I was thinking I wanted to dance with, so i have made a solemn, solemn vow to listen and dance to that song EVERY day until I dance with Maria to it and I challenge you all to make the same solemn vow yourselves it has done me a world of good and I can not g.d wait until the day that Maria and I are being little hamsters to that song together. M-D keep kicking arse, you are "fierce" I heart you so hard it hurts.
Love/peace/good,good,vibes,
Kelli
Maria, Kiira gave me the news last night that you'll be returning to Seattle soon. Yes! Your determination is an admirable trait. I can just visualize you speeding down the hall on the walker with that familiar glint in your eye. That's the first thing that's made me laugh about any of this. Keep it up! Sending you love.
P.S. Katherine, I love you too!
That's fantastic. It's so nice to hear you're doing so well, but then you are Maria. I'm going to miss you a lot this semester. It's always so nice to bump into you somewhere around campus... you always have a smile and make it impossible not to smile in return.
I wrote a nice psychological movie I wanted you to act in, but I guess I have to settle for less. You owe me. You gotta act in my first feature film. See you on the red carpet. Love you and best wishes, BERT

Hey Maria!!
I'm so glad to hear that you're doing well. I think about you so many times a day and I can't wait until I see you again. It might be a while, but I'll be waiting. This week I'm sending you out a card, it's not much, but I hope it gives you one of the smiles you gave me every time I needed it last semester. I'm writing you something too, but I won't send it until it's right. Be patient. But know that you are loved and missed by so many people down here who care and love you and can't wait to see you back here. There is a glowing light at the end of the tunnel and if there's anyone who can find it, it truly is you. Stay strong and if you need anything, don't hesitate to call (631.245.1564). Stay strong and postive, I will see you soon Broadway Star!!

Dearest Maria, everytime I read about how hard you are fighting to get better, i am inspired - it is amazing to hear how fast and well you are recovering! I laughed when I read that you said you were so mad and that was what kept propelling you forward - that's my girl!
I keep listening to Sheryl Crow and remembering our good times out East - may there be may more to come :) Love ya! Brigitte xx
I do not know you found you from Sarah Brown's site (who I do not know either). Still, I was touched by your family and the devotion. I've read this site faithfully and sent prayers your way. Godspeed healing.

Hi Maria, I don't know you but I toured with MCT for a year and greatly admire you for working with them. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you recover from the accident. Be strong and hang in there for the road is long and challenging but I feel confident that you will make a GREAT comeback! Best of luck to you! Jacki

Hello tocaya!
I understand your "rage" or "anger" or whatever you want to call it, but instead of that making you frustrated (which I am sure you are at times)make that push you to get better. And the patience fact goes here again...I miss you. A lot. More than a lot, I am crazy about the idea of seeing you again. Thank God you got that wonderful room. It was about time...I am happy for you and for your quick recovery. I talked to Danny today and he sends his love.

Reesa REESAAAAAAAAAAA! You are doing fab, keep up the good work. I love the idea of Kelli and Ab dancing around like maniacs. Love you bird, can't WAIT to see you soon. I'm thinking about you nonstop - so is Bobby's fam, everyone at work, and pretty much all of Ireland. Try to be patient (a difficult feat for anyone with Pad-dogg blood) and get yourself back to tip top shape!!
Pudin,
well well well you are just as determined as you've ever been. SO glad you'll be back in Seattle and I will be there to visit you VERY soon. Keep walking because I want to have a dance party in your hospital room as soon as possible. You, me, whoever else shows up, and maybe we'll invite the nurses.
In other news, I just had lunch with Mo and Mar Foley and we all talked about what a firecracker you are. Keep it up bird dog. Love you!
